Although I keep insisting that I’m not *really* into beauty products, I find myself constantly experimenting with new beauty discoveries and routines (see here, here and here). As I progress through my thirties (eeek), I notice my skin more and more and rather than covering up with make-up (although I do love to do that as well), I am drawn towards improving the quality of my skin so that I don’t need as much coverage. I love seeing women a decade or two older than me that have aged gracefully and in a way that is clear that they care for themselves (or maybe it is just good genes). I would like to be one of those women someday, and that requires work now.
I recently tried some new products from Rodial, one of my favourite brands when I lived in Wentworth Estates, London. My family moved back to the United States in 2007, and there wasn’t nearly the online beauty presence that there is now, so I just figured I would adopt a new skincare routine that was readily available in America.
But now one of my favourite UK sources for luxury beauty products – Space NK – has a presence in the United Stated, and Rodial is sold in many stores across the country! Most recently, I tried the Snake Eye Cream, the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic and the Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper (they all sound scarier than they are).
The eye cream was definitely my favourite, as my eye area (crows feet) is what I focus the most on. I have a medicine cabinet full of eye creams ranging from more economic pharmacy purchases to pricey options, so I have pretty high standards. It doesn’t have a strong scent, is a consistency that I love (not too thick nor runny) and most importantly, leaves the skin around my eyes feeling moisturized when I wake up the morning. This is a rarity for me and is truly the test of an eye cream.
I’ve been keeping the tonic on my desk and giving myself a spray or two whenever I need a little pick me up. It has a subtle refreshing scent and provides just the right amount of moisture. And finally, the lip plumper. I’ve never tried a lip plumper before, and while the results are not of Angelina proportions, I did notice that after two weeks of use, my lips appeared more filled out.
