Wash, Rinse, Repeat

Taking care of my skin has always been important to me, but it is even more so now that I’m no longer in my 20’s and because I live in a sunny location.  I was definitely raised in the school of thought that our skin needs to be scrubbed and not always with the gentlest of products.  This changed as I’ve been caring more for the state of my skin – I’m scrubbing only the troublesome parts that really need it and using gentler cleansing products.
Three products I am hooked on are micellar water and castor oil as make up remover and Cetaphil Daily Face Cleanser.  I’ve also adopted the approach of washing my face twice to make sure I remove every last trace of make-up before bed.  My new routine consists of removing my face make up micellar water on a cotton round, removing eye make up with castor oil on a cotton round, and washing my face twice with Cetaphil.  Since adopting this routine, my skin always feels clean but not tight (i.e., over-dried), and the castor oil also helps eyelash growth.  I do use a salicylic acid facewash and/or my Clarisonic over my t-zone if I feel like it is necessary, but I only do so to a limited area of my face, and do not use it too frequently.  I’m hoping that this routine, coupled with keeping a new hydrating eye cream in my office which I apply when the AC starts to dry out my skin in the afternoons, will help me transition to the high summer temps that will be here in no time.
