Historical fiction is one of my favourite genres, and I love everything British. So a mini-series about a police detective maintaining order on the home front in coastal England during WWII is a perfect fit for me. Detective Foyle is everything you could want in a 40’s-era detective chief superintendent – moralistic, witty and always ready with the perfect quib. If you can look past the periodic unprompted (but fortuitous) confession, you will love the characters, the style and the humour. Each “episode” is 90 mins, and there are 8 series each with 2-4 episodes. And the best part is that it is available from start to finish on Netflix. Highly recommend.
