Back-to-School Essentials

Back-to-School Basics Essentials Nap Mat Sticky Monkey Labels Chalkboard Sippy Cup Backpack Knapsack Pottery Barn Kids Bento Box

With two littles heading to “school” in just a couple of short weeks, these are the essentials I’m purchasing now so that we will be prepared when the first day arrives entirely too soon.  This is our second year doing an MDO program, and I feel so much more ready for September this time around.

The longer lead time items (read, personalized labels, monogramming, and customizing) need to be ordered asap in order to be ready for the big first day.  I particularly liked the Sticky Monkey brand of labels because they stayed on E’s sippy cup, bento boxes and snack containers so well (even after being run through the dishwasher).  We went with a personalized PB Kids backpack last year (size “Small” was perfect for our 17 month old – small enough that she could carry it, but big enough that it could fit everything she needed).

In the south, we monogram everything.  But for kiddos still learning to spell their names, it is hugely beneficial to get their full names, rather than initials, on their backpacks, etc. because it helps with letter/name recognition!  If you live in Houston, I highly recommend you visit The Monogram Shop for all your back-to-school (and gift) needs.*
