Packing Carry-On Luggage with Children

Travel Children Pack

We just returned from our second family trip in four weeks.  The girls love the excitement of travel, but packing isn’t as easy as it was before children.

I’ve  established a fool-proof system for packing our carry-on luggage which is dependent on having the right bags packed with specific contents:

  1. Pouch: passports, boarding passes, printouts of itineraries and car rental reservations,
  2. Cross Body Bag: phone, travel wallet, chapstick, earphones and glasses,
  3. Tote Bag: *Pouch,* iPads, sticker books, ziplock bags of PlayDoh, chargers, laptop and the girls’ headphones,
  4. Duffel Bag: Bjorn, muslin covers, food, diaper change kit, change of clothes for the girls and any other miscellany we bring.

With this system, I (generally) know where everything is, and I don’t have to go hunting in the bottom of a bag for chapstick or earphones.  Being organized definitely contributes to calmer and more enjoyable travels.
