I adore all things quintessentially British – London, tweed, immaculate manners and crust-less cucumber sandwiches. And Barbour is a brand that embodies the English sensibility I love. But accepting that rather than traipsing around Virginia Water Lake, I am chasing a two-year old through leafy Houston neighbourhoods, I don’t require a heavy water-wicking oiled cotton country jacket. Instead, I can suffice with a J.Crew Field Jacket that is reminiscent of the classic Barbour style, but lighter weight and at a lower price-point – it is the perfect topper for denim and a sweater or leggings and t-shift. I’ve already pulled my Field Jacket out a couple of times this year and anticipate popping it on more frequently as the temps begin to drop.
